LOGICAL ANALYSIS OF POSTURE: ROLE OF MUSCLE UP-THRUST
Pending scientific investigation and proof that these upward-stretching muscles are solely responsible for the human body's vertical posture and that these muscles not only bear the weight of the body but also relieve pressures on the joints and discs of the spine and major joints of the legs (like your palm muscles did to the marbles), we will have to accept these facts on the basis of logical conclusions. Science has in general failed to observe and study these phenomena over the decades. That is why backache and osteoarthritis ('wear and tear' of joints) of the major joints of the legs (hip, knees and ankles) are common and unresolved problems of medicine. It is common sense that any pressure taken off the joints of the leg and discs and joints of the spine would prevent them from injury, degeneration and inflammation. The less the load or pressure, the less the 'wear and tear'.
The fact that I concluded over years of study of muscles, backache and joint problems, that the body's own anti-gravitational force prevents these injuries taking place, is potentially a major contribution to medical science. As we will see later, by building up this upward thrust or the anti-gravitational force, not only can we eliminate pain, inflammation, degeneration of discs and joints but also prevent backache and osteoarthritis in the legs that are caused by 'wear and tear'. It must, however, be remembered that there are other causes of osteoarthritis ranging from nutritional factors to trauma.
The upward thrust or anti-gravitational force created by muscles is subconsciously controlled. That is why during the various experiments mentioned earlier in this chapter, one sees a sudden transition from what can be controlled and regulated to something beyond the conscious brain. The change is so subtle that the moment of transfer is quite amazing. As mentioned earlier, this function is controlled by specific gait and posture centres in the mid-brain and cerebellum, which are subcortical or of the subconscious brain.
